PaddockTalk Writer/Photographer Sam Tickell Picks His 2007 Fab Photos

Words & Images by Sam Tickell

My top five from 2007…I only did one event (Sandown GT Classic) with PaddockTalk photography for 2007 to run alongside the journalistic duties I have with the site. But that doesn’t make choosing just five any easier.

But here they are - in reverse order …

#5

I like this one as it defines the shape of the Ferrari 430 GT3 car. The sleek black, the detailing and curves on the car on the backdrop of a semi-cloudy sky…all from a jaunty angle

#4

Supercars and paddocks – quite contrasting and the rear end of the Lamborghini is a work-of-art in itself…

#3

Bryce Washington was a man under pressure in Melbourne. He had fought back to be equal top of the standings and he was on for the title. He was in mid-conversation with an engineer when this photo was taken, and I believe the look on his face says a lot.

#2

The speed sensation. Crisp bonnet, blurred rear. I also like the slight over-exposure as the day was windy and gloomy until the sun poked through and added a little bit of brightness to the cars.

#1

Eager to get out of the pits. With the rear wheels spinning but the fronts yet to start, the driver, Wall (there were two of them, not too sure who was in the car at this stage) was eager to get out and gain back some time. My favourite of 2007 as it was late in the 3.5 hour race people had stopped pushing to the limit but this showed that some still push 110% right to the end.
